Photo-Shoot FAQ
What should I do to prepare for a photo-shoot?
I highly encourage bringing source material for your cosplay to the shoot itself. This could be in the form of manga, TV screen shots, fan art, etc. This is the best place to start when coming up with ideas for poses. It is also a good idea to practice poses in a mirror, so you can see how they look before you do them in front of the camera. Will there be an easy way to contact you at the convention or event? At anytime during the convention or event, I can be reached on my cell phone. This will be the quickest and easiest way to find me. This number is available upon request, and is usually included with all photo-shoot confirmation e-mails. I have multiple costumes, can I wear them to a single photo-shoot? For conventions, this simply isn't possible. Because conventions are run on time-blocks, there wouldn't be enough time to change outfits during a single time block. If you want photo-shoots with different outfits, please schedule multiple photo-shoot time blocks. There are 2 or more people in my group, do we all have to be from the same series? NOPE! I personally love doing crazy cross-overs. If this is what you want, that would be great! I have a specific pose I want to do, is this okay to request? Yes, please go and request poses that you want! Photo-shoots are for you, the cosplayer. You may send me art work and photos of specific before the photo-shoot, or you may print them out and bring them yourself. This makes things much easier on both parties, as we have a clean understanding of what YOU want out of the photo-shoot. Can I get photos detailing a specific part of my costume? A major part of "cosplay" is the costume itself. Sometimes there are small details that you would like to show off that most people wouldn't notice. Simply let me know what you want detailed, and it will happen! (example) Are props and/or weapons acceptable? I personally love working with props and weapons. If you wish to bring some, this is fine. Please be extra careful with them around others though. You are responsible for your own actions. Also, all props and weapons must adhere to convention guidelines, as well as local/state/federal law. I'm not sure if I want to do this or not, when is the latest I can sign-up? As long as there are still time-blocks available, I don't mind signing you up at any time. This includes at the time of the event itself. There are more then 8 people in our group, is this okay? For groups larger then 8, special arrangements must be made. For this case, please send me an email. We will have to discuss specific plans to see if this can be accommodated or not. What exactly is the payment for these photo-shoots for? The money goes directly into making these photo-shoots possible in the first place. The money helps cover operational costs (such as maintaining the camera equipment, and the Darkain.com and CosplayMeetup.com web sites). What do I get out of a photo-shoot? Convention photo-shoots generally last about 45 minutes. Each convention photo-shoot receives its own gallery album within the convention's album on CosplayMeetup.com. Originals of photos may be made available at request after their gallery goes live on the web site. Do you offer photo prints? For the time being, the prints service will not be offered. This may come back in the future. I have a questions not answered here Please send any questions you may have to |
